Jára Cimrman
Jára Cimrman was born in Vienna in the second half of the 19th century, in the family of Czech shoemaker. He died under mysterious circumstances and he was last seen in 1914 in Liptákov.
He was the biggest world writer, inventor, painter, physicist, skier and philosopher in the past 100 years. We can argue, we can disagree, but that is all we can do against it. He invented yoghurt, he founded marionette theatre in Paraguay, he had a long time correspondence with G. B. Shaw, but stubborn Irish never replied. He also helped many great personalities, Edison, Marie and Pierre Curie, Svatopluk Čech etc. And he is considered to be the founder of philosophy of externism.
In spite of leading very exciting and fulfilling life as the greatest Czech patriot and artist, Jára Cimrman's legacy had almost been lost until 1966 when in Liptákov was found a chest with his masterpieces. Because of that, a group of admirers founded The Community for retrieval of the personage and work of Jára Cimrman in Czech Republic.
Actually, whole Cimrman is just a creation of actors Ladislav Smoljak and Zdeněk Svěrák, which was used as main topic for their gorgeous dramas and a movie. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
